Doug Neal, 79, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, in Amarillo. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Stinnett United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Gaines, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors. Mr. Neal was born in Waldron, Ark., and had lived in Stinnett the past 40 years. He served in the Navy during World War II as a gunner aboard the USS Pringle Destroyer and also on the Long Island Ship and the Guam Battleship. He received 13 Battle Scholars from the Navy. He was a member of Stinnett United Methodist Church. He married Pauline Crouch in 1952.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Sherri Mountain of Amarillo, Nancy Cobb of Decatur and Linda Topham of El Cajon, Calif.; a sister, Betty Neal of Tulsa; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to the memorial fund at Stinnett United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1192, Stinnett, TX 79083. The body will be available for viewing until 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel.
