 Earnest Franklin Whitehead was wounded during the attack on the USS Pringle at Vella Lavella, he died a few days later.

A note from Bill Herman: Earnest was injured during an attack on the USS Pringle and died a few days later, 
his body was returned home and buried.  All other sailors that died during attacks on the USS Pringle were either lost or buried at sea
